Days 18-21-Here A Bear, There A Bear, Everywhere In Big Bear!

Days 18-21: All my zeros in Big Bear (4) in one place

Where do I even begin…? I had such a blast in Big Bear! The town itself was really cute, but it was the people I got to see that made it such a good time. I feel so lucky to have friends in Big Bear who are extremely generous and offered me a place to stay as long as I wanted. …I had to cut myself off at 4 zeros. 😂

Sunday was a day of rest. I watched DVDs and Netflix for most of the day, leaving the couch to walk to the 7-11 for wine and snacks. Impressed I chose to walk at all, but what can I say, when you’re watching a documentary on wine, you need wine to go with it! You also need to enjoy that wine on a sunny patio when the weather feels just right, and it did.

Since I was trying to give my feet a rest after my long day yesterday I decided to order from the Himalayan restaurant in The Village. The delivery minimum was $30, so I ordered a feast. It was pretty delicious!

Monday I woke up super pumped because one of my very best friends was driving in to come visit me. Lauren and I have known each other since we were 5 years old. She’s one of those friends who I might not see all the time, but when we get together it’s like no time has passed.

We relaxed at the cabin for a bit before walking to The Village to stroll around and grab dinner. It was so fun catching up. We made it back to the cabin for about half a movie and fell asleep. She must be on hiker time too. 😂

The following day she was nice enough to let me borrow her car for some errands while she worked. I picked up my resupply and headed to the grocery store. Mid-morning on Tuesday is quite eventful at Vons. As I was walking down the freezer section a line of service dogs joined me. They were doing a training class, too cute!

I got back to the cabin and poor Lauren was still working hard. She had to leave me to get back for a meeting. We said goodbyes and she was off. Thanks for visiting Lauren! 😘

Tuesday I was so excited to join my Trail Angels/friends for dinner and say thank you in person for their hospitality. It was so fun chatting about all kinds of things, from the trail to the old neighborhood we both grew up in. Also yum, we had Mexican food! I am so incredibly thankful to have such amazing hosts. 🥰

Wednesday was reserved for laundry, but mostly hiker trash shenanigans. I got my errands done and met up with the crew I’d seen off and on since I started. Between in-room hot tubs with sugar scrub foot baths and the Bowling Barn we had a good time. I even killed it at a game of pool somehow. It was so much fun catching up with everyone, but I took off pretty early to prepare to leave the next day. How responsible of me!

I packed up as much as I could and left the cleaning for the morning. After a few movies it’s time for bed. What a whirlwind! I had a blast, but I’m missing the trail, so I’m excited to get back out there tomorrow!

Goodnight!

XOXO Becks
