Days 119-121- Adios Oregon!

Day 119 & 120 Zero in Portland

Day 121: mile 2147.6-2151.4

Day 119 & 120

I’ll sum up my days in Portland for you… Too much traffic, and so much fun with family and friends. On top of my Mom and sister coming out, I was able to see one of my oldest friends, meet his wonderful girlfriend, and catch up with a friend who moved out there from San Diego. My Mom and sister were kind enough to make sure I got plenty of time to relax. We did a few touristy things, but more than anything just lounged around enjoying each others company. I was so happy I got to celebrate completing Oregon with them!

Day 121

During my time in Portland, I continued to have more stomach issues. I was still feeling nauseous after some of my meals, so I let my Mom and sister talk me into stopping at the urgent care to see what was going on. I’ll spare you the details, but let’s just say they didn’t get what they needed to do the test. I walked out with no promise of news on what was wrong, but they did at least prescribe some anti-nausea pills. And hey, it’s only another 500 miles to the border, I’ll just get myself checked out then. What’s a few more weeks of nausea?

Feeling a bit frustrated with the whole situation at urgent care, I was so ready to be back on trail. I was feeling pretty pumped for the promise of big climbs and big views! Of course in reality I knew the next hundred miles or so will probably look just like Oregon, but I’ll happily hike through it to get to some of the most beautiful sections of the trail.

I walked back over Bridge of the Gods, and started up the hill. What do you know, trail magic and wild blackberries! Okay Washington, I like your style already.

The remainder of the day was hot and humid, and even if some of my photos make it look like a lush oasis, the vegetation was really dry. I made my way past a lake and to the creek where I decided to camp for the night. I let my beer chill in the water while I set up.

The beer was a delightful addition to my usual dinner. I sat on my freshly washed sleeping pad looking over what’s to come tomorrow, and in Washington as a whole. Can’t wait!

It’s fresher than it looks! 😉

Goodnight!

XOXO Becks
