Day 90-I Hope You Like Pics of Wildflowers

Day 90: mile 1660.5-1685.3

Allll right, I did just about 25 miles today! I haven’t done 25 since the desert and it felt great. It was almost all uphill, but that meant awesome views all day.

I was on the trail by 7:45, still the last to leave of course. That’s ok, I made a game out of catching everyone. It was a fun challenge. Within the first 5 miles I caught most of the people who were in front of me, but I still had 3 to go.

Impressing myself!

The first spring I attempted was nothing but a pool of murky water, no thanks. I kept going another couple of miles to the next water source where I caught Joe Dirt. Only 2 to go!

I continued to climb up, and up, more uphill, followed by …uphill. All along the way a variety of wildflowers sprinkled the hillsides. So many colors, I think I captured most of them.

I had less than 10 miles in my day and I was beginning to think I wouldn’t catch the last 2 on my list. Tropicana and Farmers Market left the earliest, and were over an hour ahead. Alas, they were taking a break on the side of the trail with 8 miles left in the day. Victory! I was the only one aware of the game, but it was still a fun challenge. 😂

The remaining miles were the tamest of the day, but still, you guessed it, uphill. Even the last water source was down a steep hill, so getting back up was ridiculous. I think it got me more winded than any other spot on the trail today.

We all made it to camp within 15-20 minutes of each other. We sat around chatting for a bit, celebrating the fact it was our last night in California (well for a while anyway). Off to sleep I go, feeling damn good about my day today, and super excited to cross the state line tomorrow!

Goodnight!

XOXO Becks
