Day 85 & 86-Time For A Bubble Bath

Day 85 Zero in Etna

Day 86: mile 1599.7-1613.8

I decided I needed a full day of RnR, so I stayed in town another night. I haven’t had my own room since Big Bear, so this was much needed. My parents are amazing and took care of my hotel for an added bonus, thank you!! Nothing but a whole lot of nothing happened on my zero. I basically left my room for food and food alone. That about sums it up.

After my day of pure laziness and relaxation I was ready to rock and roll. I cleaned my pack out and even sent a decent amount of stuff home. That and only 3 days of food, I was feeling light.

I grabbed some breakfast and an Americano and was on my way back to the trail by early afternoon. My goal was at least 7.5 miles to the first water source, but I was feeling good and it was early so I continued on.

I set my next goal for another 4 miles. The walking was pretty flat and easy, so I again got there and kept moving.

The final goal was a Fischer Lake. A small lake with some tent spots, sounded perfect. I crossed my fingers there would still be a spot for me when I got there. According to the trail register there were a decent number of people who started before me today. I got to the lake and was the only one there. It was absolutely beautiful! My own private lake for the night, woohoo! I set up my tent and ate my dinner lakeside. Feeling very content right now, I’m going to sleep a happy little camper. Yes, I know that was cheesy. 😂

Only 40 more miles to Seiad Valley!

Goodnight!

XOXO Becks
