Day 81: mile 1531.6-1551.8
After a sunrise that rivaled last nights sunset, I packed up and headed out feeling good. I rounded the lake and made my way toward the snow covered section of the day.
It was a short stretch. I threw on my microspikes for speed, and made my way across. And done, easy peasy, see ya tomorrow snow!
I left the snow and traded it for a rocky trail, passing by the blue-green lake below. Jury is out in which is easier to walk on. 😂
Next up was a flat stretch that reminded me of Lassen National Park. …or what I imagine it would’ve looked like if it weren’t snow covered. It was nice, easy walking and nice to look at too of course!
It was somewhere around here that good feeling I started the day with left my feet. I’ve been feeling so frustrated that they’re bothering me on a daily basis, even with the new shoes. It’s still the balls of my feet that hurt, the same feeling I had in the beginning of the trail when my feet were getting used to 15-20 miles. Some days I can’t help but feel that while some people are getting stronger and pushing bigger miles, my body is doing the opposite. …well just my feet, the rest of me feels great. Ugh!!!! Get it together feet!
Anywho, I did get a little energy boost via getting blasted in the face by the wind as I turned the corner. And what do you know, more lakes! They just never get old. Or maybe I appreciate them that much more growing up in the desert.
I pushed the last few miles into camp where I was ready for the day to be done. Oh no, not so fast, yelled the rock hard dirt I pounded my stakes into. It was so hard I broke one of them. After way too much effort I climbed in and gave my tootsies the rest they’d been asking for. At least the view is great!
Goodnight!
