Day 8-Well, I Guess It’s Just Gonna Be One Of Those Days

Day 8: 109.5-122.7

I left Warner Springs at 11:30, oops. The mornings just seem to get away with me no matter what time I wake up. Plus it’s that much harder to get going when you’re in a hotel room with other people who are still in bed and it’s chilly outside. To add, I had one more “quick” stop to the community center. So really 11:30 isn’t that bad, right? 😉

When I stepped back on the trail I was greeted by one last walk through the meadow. At that time I was feeling rested and ready for at least 15 miles. I was also impressed I didn’t wake up feeling the slightest bit hungover from the adult beverages I drank last night.

All of that changed a few short miles later. I suppose it was a combination of a few things, but I couldn’t get my legs moving very fast and I just didn’t have the motivation or excitement I usually do. I tried to pinpoint what it was, but it was just an overall feeling of blah. My mind was psyching out my body and my body didn’t have energy, terrible combination. The empty Trail Magic cooler was a sign too. 😂 I knew these days would come, so I listened to my body and called it day early.

Happy with my decision I sat in my tent drinking a cup of wine I’d brought with me. Between that and the fresh veggies I had, at least I ended my day on a positive note! Off to bed extra early to get the sleep this body is craving. Tomorrow will be a great day! Planning to make it to Mary’s water tank, which means just about 23 miles.

Goodnight
