Day 66-Halfway To Canada, But Not Half Done

Day 66: 1315.7-1331.3

Brrr! I woke up cold. The word brisk comes to mind. There was a chill in the air, but the breeze made it seem so much colder. I couldn’t bring myself to strip down to my shirt to start my hike, so I bundled up and got moving.

Within 10 minutes my sleeves and pants were rolled up. Totally worth having to stop to take my layers off. Some days you just have to let yourself be a big ol baby.

The trail continued to be mostly snow free for miles. As a whole the day was more dirt than snow. There was a section in the middle that was completely snow covered, but once I got to the ridge line it was easy walking.

I made it up to Butt Mountain, which was more of a calf workout for me. Ahhh…bad jokes are the best. 😂

I also passed the halfway marker today. I still took my photo even though I’m not halfway. As of now I am 825 miles in. Makin’ progress! …just a lot slower in this snow.

Down the mountain for miles, I was able to get to the bottom quickly. I popped out onto the highway and within a few minutes a wonderful gentleman named Dean picked me up and took me into Chester. Who was at the very spot I was dropped off, Dipity!

I did a little shopping at the grocery store to make a pre-dinner sandwich. So delicious!

We grabbed dinner at a place called the Locker Room. The salad bar had spinach, kale, and all the fresh veggies I haven’t been eating enough of, amazing!  After dinner we headed across the street to stay in the back of the Lutheran Church. They were kind enough to allow us to camp, and even had a nice port-o-potty with a sink! As I set up my tent I watched the most beautiful sunset I’ve seen in weeks. Go figure it’s in town.

Goodnight!

XOXO Becks
