Day 42-Cheers To Dignity

Day 42: mile 566.5-569.4 (Nero out of Tehachapi)

Today started (well close enough) with a cheers to our friend Dignity. Not only did he set us up with some really amazing Trail Angels, he also left us a bottle of wine to enjoy. Since I’d decided to get back on trail today and SOS wanted to stay another night, we had no choice to have a late morning glass of wine. Twist my arm. Cheers Dignity, miss ya buddy!

SOS and I got all our chores done around the house, and now we needed to run our errands. Rachel was nice enough to offer to drive us around. Can I just say, this woman is an absolute saint! She drove us from stop to stop, while picking up other hikers and taking them on errands too.

A group of us met up at the BBQ spot in town where I recruited my buddy Ring Master to hike out with me. We enjoyed some food and drinks and headed out, leaving everyone else to stay another day in Tehachapi. With all the stops lately I didn’t feel like I needed a full zero in town, even if I did have a great spot to spend another night.

I said goodbye to Rachel and thanked her for everything. It’s always hard to to say bye to someone who was so kind and wonderful to spend time with.

Ring Master and I headed out all of 3 miles and set up camp. We had quite a climb ahead of us, and neither of us had the energy for it today. It looks like it’s going to be a windy one, but no surprise there, still in wind farm country. Hopefully these Joshua Trees will provide a little windbreak so I can get some sleep tonight and get started before this storm rolls in tomorrow.

Goodnight!

XOXO Becks
