Day 39-Hangin’ In Hiker Town

Day 39: mile 510-517.6 (Hiker Town)

My alarm went off at 5 something, which meant I had less than an hour to be packed up and ready to go by 6. Why the early morning? SOS and I are planning to leave for the LA Aqueduct around 3 am tomorrow morning, so we figured an early start meant we might head to sleep early tonight and get some rest before our 23+ mile journey. The aqueduct is known for hot temps, so many hikers choose to do those miles at night or in the early morning. I wasn’t worried about the heat, but I didn’t want to do the equivalent of another road walk solo. Plus it was something different, and seeing the stars and a sunrise sounded fun, so why not!

On time (go me!), we headed out to our 8 mile journey to Hiker Town. The hike was beautiful. I fully expected to pop over the first hill and be looking at a road for most of the hike, but instead I found rolling hills and views of the flat walk that was ahead of us tomorrow.

Walking into Hiker Town I didn’t know what to expect. I’d heard mixed reviews. It seemed like a love it or hate it kind of place. I loved it! How can you not with the adorable set up? The owner is a movie producer who brought one of his sets to his property and turned it into a hostel. Let me take you on a little tour…

SOS and I decided to rent a couple of the “rooms” (basically sheds 😂). I chose the beach cottage which meant he got the flower shop. Possibly the most worthwhile $10 I’ve spent thus far. As I’d heard it was super windy, so it was nice to have a place to relax out of all the gustiness.

My attempt to fall asleep by 7-8 was a fail. Still awake just counting the hours until my alarm goes off at 2 am. Wish me luck!

Goodnight!

XOXO Becks
