Day 32-At Least There Was Pizza & Beer

Day 32: mile 430.4-444.5

I woke up ready to get to the KOA early with plenty of time to relax all afternoon by the pool and hot tub, and enjoy a pizza and beer delivery. Motivated by that, I was on the trail by 8 am, good for me! The KOA was about 3,000 feet lower than my current spot, so I figured I’d run down a decent amount of the trail and be there in no time.

The views were gorgeous from the second I hit the trail. The clouds covering the valley below were so beautiful I had to remind myself to stop starring and keep moving. I had a pizza to devour!

When I noticed the elevation change, I failed to look at the map for the day. Although the KOA was much lower, I still had to do a lot of up to get down. I felt a little cheated. 😂

Despite the uphill I did some running, and made good time. The whole hike down was roasting hot, so I was pumped to cool off. I rolled into the KOA, paid for my spot, rented a towel, got my cold drink and popsicle and was ready to chill in the pool, literally and figuratively. …until the clouds covered the sun, the wind started up, and it got cold. Not how I wanted to cool off. 😂 No problem, I’ll sit in the hot tub to warm up. …except the heater was broken. Nooooo! Dang, 0 for 2. It wasn’t all bad news though, the pizza and beer was a go! Food and beer are two of the most important things on and off trail to hikers, so my day was still made.

Following my giant meal I hit my food coma and headed to my tent to go to sleep. I’m super excited because my brother is coming up from San Diego tomorrow to spend the evening and part of the next day with me. Can’t wait!

Goodnight!

XOXO Becks
