Day 30-A Day of Milestones, 30 Days & 400 Miles!

Day 30: mile 386.1-406.7

It was quite the climb to start the day. I got to the top and began to notice what I knew was the last bit of snow I’d be seeing in the Southern California section of the PCT, yesssss! Of course I took one more small fall before it was done with me. 😂

Once down to the bottom of the mountain I just worked so hard to climb was a little trail detour. An endangered species of toads inhabited the area, so we had to go around. I’d guess it was about 5 miles and included more time with my new bestie, Highway 2. My buddy SOS joined me for the road walk and an unintentional off trail adventure. It was so nice to have company on the road, time went by much quicker!

We hiked together for the remainder of the day which was filled with more up and down and lots of road crossings. It was a really beautiful hike.

Another exciting part of the day was crossing the 400 mile marker! At this point it really started to sink in that I’d be getting off the trail in 250 miles to jump up to Northern California, but I didn’t really know exactly where yet. Crazy how time flies!

The day ended with downhill. Normally this would be welcomed, but downhill is what makes my leg hurt, and it was screaming at me! Possibly the worst it’s hurt yet. The last few miles took longer than they should’ve, but I made it and I saw a deer right before camp!

SOS and I set up our tents, soaked our feet, and had some dinner. We got in pretty late, and it was a long one, so off to bed we went. Only 40 more miles and this ol leg of mine can take a real break.

Goodnight!

XOXO Becks
