Day 25-It’s Easter?

Day 25: mile 328.1-343.6

I woke looking forward to my slower than usual start. I sat in my tent enjoying the warmth of the sunshine while I looked over the map for the day and organized my laundry, dishes, and trash. I took full advantage of the deep sink to do my wash. I will admit it felt a little trashy to be drying my clothes on my tent, especially since I was the only tent left and families were beginning to gather for Easter picnics. 😂 It was time to go…

I called family and wished them all a Happy Easter as I hiked away from the lake. Feeling proud I knew the day of the week, let alone it was a holiday.

My attempt at an Easter photo 😂

Shortly after the lake the scenery became dry and barren. This is what I spent most of my day looking at. They weren’t the most exciting miles yet, but I kept trucking along.

Toward the end of my day the scenery changed as I descended. The trail became narrow and the wildflowers and tall grass made an appearance, it was beautiful!

I was also approaching the infamous McDonald’s. I don’t eat fast food, so this wasn’t as exciting for me as it was for most. I needed water and my right leg needed a break, so I decided I’d stop. Out of nowhere the muscle that runs up the shin started screaming at me. Ugh, frustrating.

I made it to McDonald’s where I’m fairly certain I’m the only hiker in history to order a salad. 😂

I filled up my water and recruited my friend Katie to hike the next few miles to camp with me. We wandered through the dark underpass and a pretty cool tunnel, then over the railroad tracks to our campsite. Since Cajon Pass is the land of trains, there was no getting far enough not to hear them passing by. Don’t forget your earplugs here my friends!

Tomorrow we climb! …about 5,000 feet. Bring it on!

Goodnight!

XOXO Becks

Solid Easter photo :P. And that McD salad actually doesn’t look half bad, surprisingly.
