Day 182: Zero
Day 183: mile 1016.9-1035.4
Day 182
I woke up and slowly got my remaining chores done. I said goodbye to the couple I’d been hanging out with and hello to a few new hikers that just arrived. I was so impressed they were headed back to trail the same day, they just stopped in for a hot meal.
After lunch we all hopped on the shuttle late afternoon, getting back to the trail just after 4. I decided to camp at the trailhead since I had some service and was only planing on getting a few miles in today anyway. Hey, at least I made it back to the trail right!
Day 183
I packed up later than I should have thanks to having service, oh well. Off into the day I went, feeling extra pumped because NO MORE BEAR CAN! I sent it home yesterday. Woohoo! It’s a great day already.
The landscape started out almost desert-like and then popped in and out of the trees all day. The rock walls were gorgeous. I stopped to study them each time they appeared.
My late start had me hiking into the day later than usual, weird how that works. What a gift that turned out to be, I got to see one of my favorite sunsets of the trail. It just kept getting better until the beautiful colors disappeared into darkness. That sunset was 150% worth getting to camp in the dark, trying to find a good spot.
Today was one of those rare days that just felt uneventful. It was a good day and my surroundings were beautiful of course, but I don’t have much to say about it, so…
Goodnight!
