Day 144 & 145- 2,000 Miles!

Day 144: mile 2474.3-2494

Day 145: mile 2494-2516.2

Another cloudy morning just like yesterday. It’s always these kinda days that feel like a grind. My body was moving slow, my feet were feeling sore, and the uphills were feeling extra steep. I needed some motivation!

Thankfully it came, the second half of the day the clouds cleared and I could finally see the views I’d been working so hard for. The last 2.5 miles into camp were by far my favorite of the day.

I made it to Lake Sally Ann to find more crowds and full sites. I feel like the days of campsites to myself are behind me. However, I managed to find a great spot up above the lake with views to die for. I was a little worried about the mice since I’d read about people getting holes chewed in tents and food bags in the area, fingers crossed.

Day 145

The wind kept me up off and on all night, but no mice! Plus when you factor in that I got to use a pit toilet this morning, this site is an overall win! It was an open air pit toilet too, so no stank. It’s the little things, right!?

The day just kept giving. I entered the Glacier Peak Wilderness and experienced one of my favorite days on trail. And it wasn’t just because I hit a pretty significant mile marker, 2,000 MILES HIKED! It was because the day was filled with truly breathtaking views.

I sat at the top of one of the climbs for quite a while. It was so beautiful it was hard to leave. Take a look and you’ll see why. Nothing but mountains for as far as I could see. My kinda place.

The end of my day was much like the past few. I had to push an few extra miles due to the crowded sites, but was rewarded with a wonderful sunset, and finally a site mostly to myself. I’ll take it! I think today might’ve been perfect!

Goodnight!

It was really hard to keep up with the posts out there. Most of Washington and a lot of the Sierra had no service at all. I did make it through all 2650 miles! Will continue to keep posting until the end, it just may take a bit longer than I expected. haha I’m so happy to hear you’ve enjoyed the journey! I’m already ready for the next one!
