Day 133: mile 2311.4-2326.2
Hold on to your eyeballs people, the scenery today was insane! I started on the uphill and climbed my way into another cloudless morning.
The bitterness these blue skies weren’t around a few days ago to see Goat Rocks began to fade as I spent miles looking out at rocky peaks, alpine lakes, and the deep green pines that surrounded me.
Just as I entered the National Park I got my first glimpse of Mt Rainier. The snow covered peak dominated everything that surrounded it. I had to take a moment to sit down and enjoy the view.
It was a welcomed break since my body wasn’t moving very fast today. I was feeling an overall blah. Unfortunate for the group I kept passing off and on all day, I’m sure they thought I wasn’t very friendly with my lack of conversation. I needed all my energy just to keep moving. Good thing for the views, or who knows if I would’ve made it anywhere!
Thankfully I got a little afternoon pick me up, trail magic on the trail! This amazing man carries bags of chips, candy, and coffee around for us thru hikers. I grabbed a bag of BBQ chips and a little conversation and was on my way with a little more pep in my step.
I walked past Dewey Lake and every part of me wanted to stay. It was big and beautiful, but it was only 10 miles into my day, so instead I walked on the shore and enjoyed the view. …so much I almost walked off the trail into the lake!
I continued on and so did that blah feeling, only now I was also feeling pretty light headed. I decided to call it an early day again, feeling really frustrated I’d only made it 15 miles. Why isn’t my body working with me, I ate plenty today. What’s goin on and when will this end!? I can only hope I feel better tomorrow, or at the very least these views continue!
Goodnight!
