Day 12-Ahhhh My First Zero… Idyllwild Laziness

Day 12: 0 miles hiked

What’s a zero? It means zero miles are hiked that day. For me it meant as few steps as possible were taken at all. It also meant a day of nonstop eating!

I woke up feeling pretty damn good. The fact I was in a big soft bed didn’t hurt either. No way I was going anywhere anytime soon, especially because I was still up at the crack of dawn, annoying. Warm in my bed I caught up on a few things and with a few people, mostly my Mom. 😊

Once I finally got the motivation to get moving, I ran my errands. I hit the post office, grocery store, and of course a restaurant where I ordered enough for at least 2 meals.

I got back to my room and dug into my burrito and pancakes, and some of the snacks from the grocery store …separately of course. So good! So much food! One of the best parts of walking all day everyday is you can eat all day on your day off and not feel the least bit guilty.

Feeling fat and happy, I opened my package to get the pants my Mom sent so I had something to wear while I dropped my laundry off at the front desk to be washed. That’s right, they did my laundry, spoiled! I returned to my room to get back in bed and relax, because I had nothing but a jacket to wear on top and it was far too warm for that. Okay, I just wanted to be lazy. 😉 Plus if you’re going to splurge on a hotel room, you make the most of it.

After spending most of my day in bed I walked around the adorable little town. Everyone was helpful and friendly. There was a good mix of restaurants, brew pubs, wine tastings, gift shops, and a few sporting good stores. Being so close to San Diego, I’d love to come visit again someday to explore it a bit more.

Satisfied with my day of nothing, I retired back to bed to get another great night of sleep before I head back to the trail tomorrow. I guess I’m pretty good at this zero thing! 😉

Goodnight!

XOXO Becks

Sounds like a great day that was well deserved! Relaxing and exploring the down would be a great change of pace for a day.
