Day 109: mile 1986.9-1995.1 (Big Lake Youth Camp)
I woke up to find I had been lied to! Here I thought the volcanic rock was done, per another hiker. Oh no, it continued for another few miles. Dang, that was just mean.
It did eventually end and I made my way to the camp. One section was beautiful, lining the trail in beautiful flowers I recognized from other parts of the trail.
Once I got to the camp I was greeted by PCT Momma, who gave me the rundown on how everything worked. I showered, did laundry, and relaxed before lunch.
Oh lunch… how I enjoyed you. Today was a Thai theme, and I love Thai food. I loaded up plate number one and devoured all of it. Knowing I’d run out of food completely on my way in, I loaded up a second plate to take with me to hold me over until dinner. I finished it within 30 minutes of returning to the hiker building. Saw that coming.
Everyone hangout for the next few hours, chatting and doing chores. Somehow I was starving before dinner even rolled around, dreaming of what we might have. Nachos and watermelon! My plate my twice or three times the size of the growing teenage boys who are counselors here. 😂I left stuffed.
After dinner we returned once more to the hiker building before setting up our tents for the night. I found a beautiful spot right by the lake. I’ve got service again, so I’m going to try not to stay up too late streaming HBO again.
Goodnight!
