Day 107: mile 1952.6-1968.1
I let myself sleep until almost 7 after my late night. …which is never really truly sleeping that late. Lately out here I generally get a few solid hours of sleep, and then around 1 am or so I wake up (usually itching like crazy from bites), eventually getting back to sleep, and then wake up again around 4-5 and toss and turn until I finally decide I need to get moving. It’s a battle.
As I was packing up my tent the chef at the restaurant came over to say hello. I was so sneaky he hadn’t even noticed my tent last night. And this is why I chose drab green instead of bright blue for my tent color. 😂We chatted for a few and then I headed back to the lake to enjoy breakfast by the lake.
He was nice enough to bring me a coffee and share his watermelon before he started his shift. Between the conversation with him, finally getting a blogpost up, and charging my batteries, I didn’t get out of there until noon. Yikes! …okay, you’re right, no one is surprised. 😂
I headed up and finally reached the portion of the Sisters Wilderness I kept hearing about. It was beautiful! Wide open spaces filled my day and I couldn’t have been more excited about it. I stopped to talk to a few south bounders who let me know it was like this for about 20 miles, yes!
I had every intention of hiking later into the day, but as 6:30 rolled around I decided to call it a night. Hopefully the thought of reaching my next stop tomorrow will give me the motivation I need to complete the 27+ miles. We’ll see, kind of doubt it.
Goodnight!
