Day 105: mile 1914.4-1935.3
Surprisingly, I left the comfort of the shelter at a decent time (9:15). I stopped at the Pee Tree and was on my way.
I decided this stretch I’d take it easy on myself and just do 20-22 mile days. Stormy Lake was my goal at 20.9 miles.
The most important part of my day was finding just enough service to call my Dad and wish him a happy birthday. Success! About halfway through my day one bar popped up and I was able to leave a message. Happy Birthday Dad! Love you and miss you!
On the day went. I passed numerous lakes and ponds. My favorite being Charlton Lake. It was big and beautiful! I stopped for water and to enjoy and relax for a bit.
Oddly enough my favorite part of the day was walking through the burn area. I was able to see for miles and take in the bright blue sky. It was a breath of fresh air after feeling a bit claustrophobic surrounded by trees all the time. The green regrowth was nice too!
I put on a mix of 90’s hits to finish out my day. Some of those songs gave me flashbacks to middle school dances and even further back to elementary school days, making up dances to Mariah Carey in my best friends living room. You know who you are …Lauren! 😂
The day was long. Even though I had positive thoughts of reaching Washington and Canada, I felt starved for a challenge or something engaging. Oregon continues to be a mental battle, full of mindless walking through the trees. I’m counting the days to the Washington border and my visit with my Mom and sister. In the meantime I’ll continue on my mosquito killing spree in my tent so they can’t get me while I sleep. As I write that a small spider just repelled off my beanie (my Mom just fainted reading that 😂); maybe it’ll help eat some of these blood suckers! On that note…
Goodnight!
